Elena Arias is a Senior Education Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Elena joined the Bank in November 2011 as part of the Young Professionals Program and her first rotation was in the Competitiveness and Innovation Division. It is part of the Education Division since December 2012.
Before joining the IDB, she worked as a consultant for the World Bank, UNDP and the European Commission.
Elena has a Master's Degree in Economic Analysis and a PhD in Economics, both from the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB). His research focuses primarily on the economics of higher education, and his publication history includes international peer-reviewed journals. His work at the Bank focuses primarily on the area of technology in education and the transition of young people to higher education and work.
