How can workers in Latin America and the Caribbean leverage Artificial Intelligence to develop core skills, improve their performance, and close the skills gap in the labor market?

Contextualization of the challenge

In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, technological advancements have accelerated the transformation of the global labor market. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies are redefining the skills required by workers and organizations. According to the Future of Jobs Report 2025 by the World Economic Forum (WEF), it is expected that, in the coming years, more than a third of the current skills of workers will be transformed or become obsolete. This presents a critical challenge: preparing the workforce for change and closing the existing skills gap, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The region faces additional challenges in terms of inequality and limited access to training. Despite the growing interest in emerging technologies, many workers in the region still lack access to the necessary tools to develop the key skills demanded by future labor markets.
